The aim of the study was to examine students' experiences of physical education and their ideas on how participation could increase. The data collection consisted of three focus groups with a total of fourteen pupils in the fifth grade at two different schools. Data was analyzed with a manifest content analysis. The qualitative analyze resulted in seven categories; (I) variation, (II) meaningfulness/comprehensibility/manageability, (III) the significance of the teacher, (IV) motivation, (V) decreased demand, (VI) buddy climate and (VII) shower/changing room.
